Jill Hauwiller has been developing leaders for 20 years. She is the founder, principal consultant, and executive coaching practice leader at Leadership Refinery. She has coached hundreds of professionals around the globe in the areas of leadership effectiveness, emotional intelligence, career transition, building strong teams, and work-life integration. Jill is an energetic, optimistic, strengths-based coach and has a broad toolkit to leverage in helping her clients identify obstacles, work through challenges, articulately communicate value, and ultimately build confidence in making decisions and taking action. Jill approaches each coaching engagement with a positive and appreciative mindset. She is known for assessing and leveraging talents to help people set and achieve personal & professional goals. She quickly builds trust and rapport, respects confidentiality, and honors extremely sensitive work and personal topics. She is skilled at providing supportive challenges and holding others accountable for commitments. Her industry experience includes global manufacturing, healthcare, med-tech/biopharma, professional/financial services, and higher education. She is a sought after coach for leaders transitioning into new roles. Jill practices and believes in the power of personal reflection - experience is an incredible teacher. While Jill’s specialty is assessing and coaching high potential and high performing leaders, she also facilitates strategic planning and culture alignment for senior leadership teams, as well as team assessment and coaching. She is a sought after conference presenter at national and global events on leadership development, emotional intelligence, and career planning & transition. She teaches and provides executive coaching through the Carlson School of Management Executive Education programs. Jill is also an adjunct management faculty member at the University of St. Thomas, teaching the Leadership course in the Masters of Science in Health Care Innovation program. Jill is a credentialed executive coach with the International Coach Federation (ICF), and has numerous assessment certifications in leadership, strengths, values, 360 feedback, learning agility and personality, as well as action learning design and facilitation. Over the years, she has been certified to facilitate programs with DDI, Lominger/KornFerry, FranklinCovey, Hogan, and Linkage, to name a few. Jill earned Bachelors degrees in Communication and German from the University of Minnesota-Duluth, and earned a Masters degree in Communication from Bethel University with an emphasis in Conflict Resolution and Emotional Intelligence (EQ). Jill’s professional career in talent management and development began as an HR business partner and recruiter in the industrial manufacturing industry, where she hired, assessed, and developed talent for technical, financial, sales, and leadership roles. Her passion for career development led her to higher education, where she managed career coaching services for graduate business students (MBA) at a top-ranked business school. Later, she led global learning and leadership development for a global industrial filtration manufacturer. After several years of managing an expanding “side gig”, Jill officially launched Leadership Refinery in 2015 to focus more deliberately on coaching and developing high performing leaders. Jill is based in Minneapolis, Minnesota and supports corporate and individual clients all over the country and globe, many on international assignments in the US and abroad. Born and raised on a farm, she has a strong work ethic, loyalty to family, and a passion for the outdoors. She loves to garden, cook, and practice yoga regularly. She enjoys life’s journey with her husband and two young children, getting away to camp, bike, and canoe whenever four busy schedules allow.
